REHABILITATION COUNCIL COMPOSITION

Members of the Pennsylvania Rehabilitation Advisory Council (RAC/Council) are appointed by the Governor. During most of this reporting period the RAC consisted of 21 members. Two members left during the summer, leaving the roster at 19 as of September 30, 1997. Membership includes persons with disabilities, parents and guardians of persons with disabilities, advocates, service providers and representatives of the business community. Additionally, as required by the Rehabilitation Act, 51% of the membership includes: persons with disabilities; persons not employed by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation; parents, family members, guardians, advocates or authorized representatives of individuals with disabilities who have difficulty representing themselves; and current applicants or former recipients of OVR services. Membership is also geographically diverse to assure that urban, suburban, and rural perspectives are provided.
