It is my pleasure to re-assume the duties of Chair for the PA Rehabilitation Council for 2008-09. I would like to commend Carolyn Vidt and Miki Greenstein on their leadership over the past year. Their dedication to ensuring VR services in PA are the best they can be will remain the top priority for the coming year.
This being my second term as Chair affords me a hindsight I did not have the first time around. Carolyn and I have also had the privilege of attending programs offered by RSA, and this has allowed for an open relationship with them that I intend to cultivate further.
With all this experience I hope to have an even more productive year. I look forward to working with OVR and BVS, and maintaining an open dialogue with Bill Gannon and his staff. It is only through open communication that ideas can be expressed and solutions realized.
Lastly, I encourage all members of the PaRC to be actively involved. We have positions open on several subcommittees and it takes no more than a couple of hours a month. Because we only meet four times a year, these subcommittees are imperative to success in our efforts.
There is much uncertainty in our world right now. Our economy is in flux, we will have a new President and, as the war continues, funds will continue to decrease while our consumer base increases. We have serious work ahead, and I will do my best to provide the serious leadership necessary…with a bit of humor in just the right places!
