Dear Fellow Council Members, Partners, and most importantly, our fellow Pennsylvanians with Disabilities and their families:
I want to thank everyone for their help and support during my year as Chair of the PA Rehabilitation Council. It is my hope that I have led the Council in a positive direction that has put us on a course for continued growth.
It's hard to believe that a year has passed, and that we have done so much in a short period of time. We had successful meetings with our legislators, both in Harrisburg and in Washington, D.C. We were also pleased to see that our recommendations for an increase in transportation and more money for Assistive Technology found their way into the 2006-07 state budget. Of course, we weren't the only ones requesting the increases, but I'm sure our efforts did help.
Personally, I'm pleased to see that the goal of working with other stakeholders and state personnel was a success. We've had folks from the OVR Board, The Office of Equal Opportunity, Work Force Investment, The National Rehabilitation Association and the HELP Committee participate in conference calls and give insight towards the content of our legislative position papers.
I have enjoyed my tenure as Chair, and will continue my participation on the Council. I congratulate Micki Greenstein on his election as Chair for 2006-07, along with Jamie Ray, Vice Chair, and Matt Seeley as Member-at-Large. I want to offer Micki any assistance he and his officers may need during transition and beyond.
Sincerely,
Michael C. Adamus
Past Chair
