Dear Fellow Council Members, Partners, and most importantly, our fellow Pennsylvanians with Disabilities and their families:
As the newly elected Chair of the PA Rehabilitation Council for 2005-06, I would like to first take a moment to thank outgoing Chair and Council Member Tom Walsh. I have had the privilege to work with Tom on several committees, and have been impressed with his dedication to the Council's mission, and his ability to work with all groups equally in order to meet our goals. Tom, you leave behind an excellent example of advocacy on behalf of people with disabilities.
As for the coming year, our main goal continues to be working for the defeat of WIA Plus. The upcoming vote on the RSA Reauthorization will be a pivotal point in this battle. PA must take the lead in this fight. We are organized, dedicated and ready. Our Legislative Committee will play an important roll in defeating WIA Plus. In addition our other committees, including State Plan, Customer Satisfaction and the CareerLink Ad Hoc, have their own efforts to better meet the needs of people with disabilities in PA.
I look forward to the challenges we will face in this coming year. I will do my best to continue the traditions set in place by my predecessors and with your dedication and help so we will successfully meet these challenges head on.
Sincerely,
Michael C. Adamus
