FY 2000 Highlights

  • Advocated for, and participated in, accessibility assessments of all CareerLink centers and the PA CareerLink website. Remedial activities are underway.
  • Facilitated a statewide conference call of district Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) chairs to share best practices. Recommended development of a page devoted to the CACs on Office of Vocational Rehabilitation's (OVR) website. Conference calls will continue in FY2001.
  • Recommended and helped facilitate a Planning Retreat with the OVR Board and other stakeholder groups to identify common concerns and develop unified strategies to address them.
  • Increased presence with Team PA Workforce Investment Board, including presentation of reports at Board meetings.
  • Participated in RSA's annual monitoring visit to OVR.
  • Increased member representation on OVR workgroups and at OVR events.
  • Provided commentary to the State Board of Education regarding changes in Special Education Rules and to the Department of Education regarding the implementation of the state Memo of Understanding,
  • Expanded knowledge of issues around workforce investment and employment of persons with disabilities through participation in state and national conferences.
  • An average of 1,000 visitors per month visited the web site, making it one of the most visited Rehabilitation Council websites in the country.
