Staff reported there are 7 members who will attend the legislative visits on November 18, 2008. They will be meeting with 15 legislators. These legislators are the vice chairs of the committees the Council are interested in. The same position paper will be used that was used for the May visits. Mr. Tom Washic, OVR, will send staff some updated figures to add to the paper.
If any member wishes to visit a legislator not on the list, they may do so either before or after the scheduled visits. Staff will have extra position papers available to hand out to non scheduled legislators. Members decided to meet in the Capitol Rotunda at 9:00 a.m. and have a quick breakfast before the visits start.
Members that are staying at the Hilton will meet at the elevators on the 2nd floor at 8:30 a.m. and walk over to the Capitol. Ms. Marji Beyer stated OVR appreciates the efforts of the Council to advocate for more funding. Mr. Larry Kauffman also thanked the members for their letters of support for the Mental Health Parity bill.
The next meeting of the Legislative Committee will be on December 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.
The meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
